[rant] noh salleh changed my life

˙✧˖°πŸŽ» ༘ ⋆。

today i want to talk about Noh Salleh's hit album (well, *his* most known album) "Angin Kencang"!! ⭐⭐⭐

since i'm not an expert in music whatsoever, everything i say might sound inaccurate. enjoy it as a light reading session!! ⁽⁽ଘ( ˊα΅•Λ‹ )ଓ⁾⁾

"Angin Kencang" is the first album of Noh as a soloist artist. it was first released in 2014, but new songs were added resulting in the 2017 release :
  • "Mr Polia" (a james bond-ish upbeat song)
  • "Renjana" (melancholic noir song)
  • "Sarawak" (a tribute to his birthplace)
Noh has expressed how he somehow likes to release multiple editions(?) of songs (for example : a song was already released as a single, but he still included it in the next album) because it feels nice when fans have a huge collection of his music. πŸ€ personally, i don't think it's a problem bcs that way he would release music more often, instead of waiting for the whooolee album to fully finish.

it's amazing to see how much his fans love him α•™ (° ~ ° ~)

"Angin Kencang" for me, is a blend of jazz, pop, rock and psychedelia. Noh's direction for the album was something like french pop/jazz, and a hint of Sore (an indonesian band) πŸ¦‹ when i discovered his music, i was enchanted ( ꈍα΄—ꈍ) at first, they sounded like your average malay balad-pop songs played on the tv and radios, but the more i listen, the more i find in his compositions. backing vocals, extraordinary direction of synths(?) and instruments ...

also!! he didn't compose and write the whole album on his own. he even collaborated with a few indonesian artists like alm. Ade Paloh (from Sore band) and others (i forgot, sorry!! DD: ) this is why the lyrics, etc wasn't too similar to the way he wrote his Hujan band songs!! γƒΎ(*’οΌ―’*)/ he was trying to push his limits and be more experimental during the production of the album.

ΚšπŸ“Ιž ꒦꒷⩩ "Angin Kencang" has given me some good comfort songs. i'd totally recommend :
  • Angin Kencang (can never go wrong with the most hit song)
  • Biar Seribu (a bittersweet "fancy-diner" romantic song)
  • Sarawak !! (soft jazzy song, reminds me of Chet Baker a bit)
his songs give off melancholic-romantic sounds that warms your heart. soo good to listen during rainy weather or whenever you're chilling indoors (δΊΊ*´∀`)。*゚+ 🌷 thank you Noh Salleh and friends for the fresh, avant-garde music, challenging the norms of the nation's music industry (^^)

ever since i've discovered Noh Salleh, i'm so inspired by the fact that he's always keen to experiment and explore different genres/styles. now, i listen to more genres and artists than ever!!! also Noh is the best internet funnyman pls stay healthy and awesome >o<)/ ˚🎧⊹♡

P.S. back in 2018, Noh was nominated for AJL ("Anugerah Juara Lagu" - a huge national competition between the songs of the year). he was criticised by many for his "too laid-back" and "plain" composition of "Angin Kencang" song. he didn't make it to the finale. then, in 2023, many youngsters are attracted to the same song, placing it amongst the most popular local hits of that year. he was certainly ahead of his time ☀️
